Including: Bargoed to Fochriw
Distance: 10.4 miles (round-trip)
Travel Time: 1.5 - 2 hours

The ride begins and ends at the Bargoed Train Station. Approximately 10 miles of the ride is on NCN Route 469; a traffic-free walking & cycling path. The route travels mostly uninterrupted along a re-purposed rail line within Parc Cwm Darren.

You will pass through the village of Deri after 2 miles and reach the visitor centre at Parc Cwm Darren at 3 1/2 miles. (Note: the visitor centre is open seasonally.) The route continues along through the valley up to Fochriw for another mile and a half.

To begin; walk up from Bargoed train station toward the town center and turn right at the first roundabout onto Bristol Terrace. Travel two blocks to where the road bends sharply to the left. At the bend, the entrance to the path is directly to your right. The approximate travel time is 1.5 to 2 hours including a brief stop at the visitor centre at Parc Cwm Darren.

The return trip is exactly as you came.
